Fantastic Website

The children in our learning team have discovered a fun and interactive website that teaches them all about Sea-life and the affects of human activity on the creatures of the sea.  This week we used it to learn about different fishing methods around the world.

You can access the website from home if you choose.  Go to www.fishandkids.org  The activities in the playroom are fun, easy and interactive learning activities the kids can do by themselves.

Artistic Creations!

On Friday afternoon, the children in Room 5 were very busy creating paper collage pictures of underwater scenes. They used a variety of different materials, and finished them off with wonderful, sparkly fish! Great job Room five!

Room 6 Work

Room 6 made a Garden of  Gleniti Values to think about the ways we use our Archer Values. The flowers have a classmate's name in the centre. around the name are the values that each person demonstrates.

Our T-shirts have our own designs on them and the things we like to do in our spare time.

Through the Lens - Holiday Picture and Descriptive Poem Writing Activity

Blue pale sky happily shines up in the clouds,
Solid still mountains glisten in the colourful background,
Smiling Annie wriggles on the dark blue couch,
Waiting, smiley Lillie hugs her brother while the camera goes click.

Through the Lens - Holiday Picture and Descriptive Writing Activity

Bright go cart slowly moves across the bumpy dark shingle,
Lush green grass sways in the warm air,
Colourful tent walls swish in the wind,
Puffy white clouds float in the sky.

Through the Lens - Holiday Picture and Descriptive Poem Writing Activity

Lush green grass sways in the gentle breeze,
Grey rocks separate the two pools,
Wet waterfall flows into one of the little pools,
Colourful flowers rock in the light wind.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW BLOG!

Hi Parents/Caregivers and families...welcome to the learning team 2 (year 3&4) blog!!
We are very excited to be beginning this exciting new way to communicate and share our learning and discoveries with you!
The teachers in our learning team will be taking turns to update you with the happenings in our classrooms. Check in from time to time to see what is new!
Feel free to write us a comment if you would like to. After it's been checked, it will appear on the page.
You can also share the link with Grandparents etc. It's a great way to to keep them in touch with your child's learning. :-)

ROOM 5
It's been a busy start to the year in Room 5!
We have been learning about friendships, including how to make and maintain them. We have made T-shirt pictures of ourselves showing groups that we belong to. (A picture to follow).
In Art, we have begun the process of designing and creating our own imaginative mythical bird! We are learning about interesting feather patterns. We also made our own handprint peacocks!
We are also reading a number of Maori Myths and Legends of Aotearoa, including the well-known Maui stories. We are learning how to retell these stories, both orally and in written form.
Fitness has been fun, practising our throwing and catching skills.
Reading is now well established and the children are enjoying the challenges within their reading groups. We will be adding photos within the next week, and Mrs. Best will be sharing the cool things the children have been doing in writing :-)
